I recently noticed this sign on 88th near state street in Marysville. This intersection has been a popular location for panhandlers, with the horrific traffic backups that occur here they have a captive audience to solicit cash. Too early to say if it’s working, but nobody was standing there with a cardboard sign when I snapped this photo.
Some video from the technical water rescue this afternoon at Twin Lakes Park in Marysville. A 19 year old male reportedly was under water for about an hour. Multiple agencies, the Snohomish County dive team and county helicopter were involved in the rescue. The victim was transported by Marysville medic unit to Everett’s Providence Hospital with critical injuries.
$2,500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in a burglary that took place in Marysville last friday. Here is video showing the two vehicles involved in the burglary:
The homeowner is offering the $2,500 reward. If you can identify any of the vehicles or people in this video, please contact the Marysville Police Department at (360) 363-8300.
Apparently this Hyundai with U.S. Government plates drug this carpet roll down Interstate 5 for 10 miles today:
Quick clip from this afternoon- BNSF decided to spend 20 minutes moving freight cars around at the peak of the afternoon commute, pretty much destroying the traffic flow in Marysville near I-5.
Gave me time to catch up on emails, texts, phone calls, edit some videos and write that short story I have been talking about for years.
Police pursuits in Snohomish county have become almost a common occurrence anymore. It’s not unusual at all to hear at least one a day, sometimes more. There are no shortage of stolen cars in the county apparently.
It has become so common that the officers and deputies sound pretty calm during these chases, calling out speed, traffic conditions, vehicle description in remarkably normal tones.
That brings us to this chase from Friday morning, it started on Interstate 5 in Marysville, then exited into the city. The thing that makes this pursuit audio unique is the way the deputy handled the communications. He was asked repeatedly for his speed, never gave it, no indication of road conditions, after two requests he finally gave the reason for the pursuit, and the location information he gives is fairly disorienting. He apparently ends the pursuit without announcing it.
Makes for interesting listening:
Always nice to see folks pull over to help when someone is involved in a car accident. It’s not uncommon for citizens to offer life-saving help to the critically injured before EMS arrives. Most do it because it’s the right thing to do, maybe hoping it will help with their “karma”.
Well according to this WSP Press Memo it didn’t work out so well in this case. Yesterday there was a serious accident in the Marysville area, several folks pulled over to help. Most people simply hop out of their cars and don’t even think of locking or securing their belongings. Apparently that’s the case with a woman who pulled over to help out a 74 year old man and his passenger involved in an accident yesterday. When she returned to her vehicle she noticed an envelope containing approximately $900 was missing. Seems a piece of human garbage took advantage of her good will and helped themselves to her belongings.

Two nights ago while waiting to pick up my daughter from work at the Outlet Mall I saw some odd lights in the sky. Naturally I grabbed a video camera to catch it. I was sort of excited at first, thinking I might be seeing something unusual.
I don’t know exactly what they were, but I suspect they were “Chinese Lanterns” since they came from the general area where the “Boom City” fireworks stands are.
That or it was some type of alien invasion.
The 13 million dollar overpass project in Marysville is scheduled to be completed in September of this year. I shot a few photos and a couple of minutes of video Saturday showing the progress of the project.
Hopefully this bridge will help with the horrible traffic that can build up around the Costco, Target and Best Buy that make up the “Lakewood Triangle”.
Marysville police engaged a reported car prowler in a pursuit that began just after midnight on April 19th. A fairly short pursuit ended when the suspect hit a power pole near Highway 9 and Soper Hill Road. The suspect was ejected and power lines went down in the area. Here is the audio of the chase and the resulting chaos afterwards: Audio from 04-19-12 marysville pursuit
