Around 9:30 last night a fire was reported in an older apartment complex located at 1814 Hewitt Ave in Everett. Everett Fire Department along with several surrounding agencies responded to this 3 Alarm blaze. It was reported today by The Herald that one person died in the blaze.

Radio communications from the incident were captured by Snohomish County Scanner. With their permission I’m providing a link to the audio communications from the fire here:

Arlington, WA strip mall fire 11-02-09

Saw this on the way in to work today, the Smokey Point Plaza had a fire that wiped out about 6 businesses. When I went by this morning it was tapped and the scene was one of clean up.

Sounds like the cause of the fire is still under investigation. News story on the fire on King 5’s website.

Interesting commute the past couple days

Heading in to work has been interesting the past couple days. Today 64th Ave in Marysville was backed up badly due to what appeared to be a fairly decent wreck at 67th and 74th:

Yesterday on my way to work after dropping my daughter off at Everett Community College I noticed a pretty decent thermal column as I drove north on 529.

I jumped off at Marysville to check out what was on fire, heading North on Cedar Ave it looked like it might be a decent working fire.

I pulled up after most of the fire had been knocked down, looked to be some sort of shop building with some old trucks:

Been a crazy week for my little commute. Not the first time either, a couple weeks ago there was a fatal car wreck also on 64th:
