A multi-agency disaster training drill took place today in King and Snohomish Counties. The drill had a few different scenarios, river rescues, landslides and other simulated emergencies. I decided to head up to the Robe Valley/Pilchuck river scene where two rescues with both the SCSO Snowhawk 10 and NAS Whidbey Island’s blackhawk helicopters would rescue “victims” of a flood.
Getchell Fire District handled this scene, with their firefighters acting as the victims and their Chief Travis Hots acting as the Incident Commander.
I grabbed some photos and video of the exercise, both of the “rescues” went without incident, it was awesome to see both of these helicopters getting in and out of this fairly tight rescue scene. Check out the video:

Bill, thanks for the footage. My daughter is the pilot of the MH60S out of Whidbey. I don't often get to see her fly…and I would probably have to be in a jam to get to ride.
Thanks for the comment- if she was the one flying she did a great job setting that big helicopter down there! I was amazed how much bigger it was than the County's huey- it really blew up some dust when it began to hover.
