Alfa turns 100 years old today. My experience with Alfa Romeos is limited to a 1980s GTV6 that was in a gas station I worked at right after high school. I forget exactly what it came in for, all I remember is that the station owner (who considered himself an Alfa expert) managed to bend all the valves on the engine as a result of his work. It was an expensive bill and I think the station ate most of it.
I think Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson summed up Alfa Romeo nicely: “This is the thing you have to remember, Alfa built a car to be as good as a car can be… briefly”
