Boeing Oversize Load- with rear “Steer Car”

I caught this last week on I-405 near Kirkland. Boeing has to move large objects between the various plants in the puget sound, and these often go over the road with a Semi Truck, chase van, and the rear axle “Steer Car”, vehicle with a driver that “drives” the back axles of the trailer load.

These guys sit low to the ground and must have a somewhat tedious job, starting at the mudflaps of the tractor in front of them. I’m assuming the radio and GPS help a lot with preparing for corners. I’ve seen these on the freeways around here for years, not sure how long Boeing has been using them.
