I pretty much always have a scanner (or two) on at all times, I enjoy listening to the various calls. It’s amazing how much is going on around you that you never hear anything about in the news. Fights, vehicle thefts, home break-ins, and pursuits.
Saturday morning around 12:30am I heard a pursuit on the Snohomish County East channel- apparently Washington State Patrol attempted to stop the car and it continued. I came in on it when it was on Highway 9, going northbound at speeds 80+. This was in 20F weather and with slick road conditions. The suspect car was rolling “blacked out” at times (no headlights) at speeds approaching 100MPH on a poorly lighted 2 lane highway.
Eventually SCSO “terminated” their pursuit, but apparently WSP continued to follow, Arlington Police had already set up a spike point on highway 9 and were able to get the suspect vehicles tires. Down to his rims he eventually bailed and fled the vehicle on foot in the fields between highway 530 and dike road west of Arlington.
I posted the most exciting portion of the pursuit here if you want to listen to it:
I listened for a while while they setup containment and had a K9 begin tracking. I finally went to bed so I have no idea if they caught the guy or not, just another one of those things you hear on a scanner and won’t hear or read about anywhere else!

Curious what model scanner you use? I understand Snohomish County uses a Motorola Type II 800MHz trunk system. Do you recommend getting a scanner that is also APCO 25 compatible and if so what model?
