I’ve never been a big fan of car washes, my dad always told me they destroyed the paint on cars. Growing up I remember seeing the automatic washes with heavy brushes that really pounded the cars finish. The current generation of car washes do a much better job with the paint from what I can tell. Regardless I do not really like to use them unless I just don’t have the time to do the job by hand, or of the weather is so cold that it’s not really possible to do it at home. Last week when the temps were in the single and double digits I decided to get my Escape washed on the way home from Sea Tac.
If I have to use a car wash I tend to pick Mr. Kleen in Lynnwood, I’ve been pretty happy with the outcome most of the time. Occasionally they miss a spot or forget to flip a mirror back in position, but overall they get the job done and it looks good. A couple years ago I had the bright idea to mount a bumper cam on my car and see what the car wash was like from that point of view. The results were not what I hoped for:

lol I just watched them both… not sure why since I know what it is to go through a car wash… now I will be asking myself all night why I watched it.. but in a weird way it was sort of cool
